Anticipation

He’d gotten away with it. By the time his dad got home, Mike was already asleep in bed, and when Kyla came home on Sunday she ignored him just like she was always did. Nobody was the wiser. “Whatever,” Pete said, turning away from Mike. The hyenas dispersed, disappointed. Chuck caught Mike’s thankful glance and half-shrugged before turning away himself. Mike hurried out of the showers, wrapping a towel around himself, and went to get changed.
